CINCINNATI, Ohio (June 11, 2013) – The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1 has announced their endorsement of Cincinnati City Council candidate Mike Moroski. The SEIU represents 50,000 members across seven states and includes service-oriented employees who are working with community leaders to advocate for the quality services the public deserves and the good jobs communities need.
The SEIU Local 1 sees Cincinnati City Council as a “venue to not only help protect our union members, but also to move our city in the right direction of a just, equitable, and sustainable place for all our citizens,” SEIU Ohio/Indian Coordinator Tyler French said in a statement.
“We are happy to announce our endorsement and support for Mike Moroski’s candidacy in the 2013 Cincinnati City Council election,” Mr. French said, “We believe Mike’s leadership will help build on our strong communities of hard working people and enable us to bargain stronger agreements for our union members that will in the long run help our mutual goal of making Cincinnati an increasingly vibrant city in which everyone can work and live.”
“I am humbled and honored to be endorsed by the SEIU Local 1,” Mike Moroski said in response to the SEIU announcement, “Speaking up on behalf of the voiceless, and walking in solidarity with working people is a charge I have taken quite seriously throughout my entire professional career, and I very much look forward to working alongside the SEIU to make an even bigger impact on the equitable and just development of our city once I am elected in November.”
